AMBASSADOR'S MESSAGE

It is particularly gratifying to address the Peruvian community to express my satisfaction for having been appointed Ambassador of Peru to the Republic of India, a country with which we share important and varied historical, political, diplomatic, cultural, economic, and social ties that have brought the bilateral relationship to a moment of particular dynamism in the different thematic axes that characterise it.

Peru and India are both cradles of very old civilizations, with a rich cultural, archaeological and anthropological richness, which allows us, based on our rich past, to progress in the goal of constructing a promising future of reciprocal cooperation in the framework of the bilateral relationship.

The relationship with India is wide and diversified and has its own challenges and opportunities. The possibilities for expansion of the relationship in the areas of cultural, scientific, technological and innovation cooperation are particularly encouraging, insofar as there is great mutual interest in strengthening cooperation in these areas.

Within this framework, this Embassy, with the support of the honorary consulates and the Commercial Office, permanently carries out various promotional events of Peru in India, in the areas of culture, art, gastronomy, commerce, tourism and investments. The opening of the Art Gallery of the Republic of Peru has allowed us to disseminate the outstanding manifestations of Peruvian culture in India and neighboring countries.

In the area of economic and trade relations, it is important to highlight that, in 2017, India became Peru´s seventh biggest trade partner. Peru and India are currently negotiating a comprehensive trade agreement, which shall open up greater business opportunities between our countries, generate new jobs and open the way for reciprocal investment.

This Embassy is equally committed, through the Consular Section in New Delhi, and the action of our honorary consulates in India, to provide the best consular service that can be offered to the members of the Peruvian community residing in India. That is why I avail myself to reiterate that the Embassy of Peru in India will always be ready to assist our fellow citizens in everything that is within its reach.

Finally, dear compatriots, allow me to reiterate my commitment to the Peruvian community residing in India. Please receive my best wishes of happiness for you and your families.
